Rental Program

We're well on our way to reaching a century of business supporting local band programs and directors. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service and supports to first time and returning renters.

How Renting Works

3 Month Rentals

Instead of renting monthly, we rent quarterly! This allows us to better follow the school year calendar. The first 3 months rent is non-refundable as it covers cleaning and repair fees from the previous renter. We offer used instrument rentals and brand new, just out of the box rentals.

Perks

Our customers deserve the highest level of support. To best support our renters, we put up to the first 9 months rent to the purchase of a new or used instrument. We understand that musical endeavors can be expensive, and not all students know the instrument they want to play through their band and professional careers. This gives students and parents the option to try different instruments per the band directors request.

Who Can Rent?

We only rent to elementary, middle school, and high school students actively participating in band. This is due to the high number of renters we service year round, and our instruments are on a first come, first serve basis. So, if you want to ensure your child has an instrument by the first class day, renting earlier is always better!

Service

While parents and students are ultimately responsible for the welfare of the rental instrument, we repair normal wear-and-tear issues. Our renters' instruments always go to the front of the repair line to ensure a speedy turn around.

Rental FAQ

Do you rent to adults?

Unfortunately, no. We only rent to elementary, middle, and high school students.

What instruments do you rent?

We rent name brand instruments for the following: Flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone (we have trigger options available), french horn (double and single), baritone/euphonium, and tuba.

I tried to fill out an online rental contract, but the instrument I need isn't available...

If you need to rent a bass clarinet, bassoon, tenor saxophone, trigger trombone, french horn, double french horn, baritone/euphonium, or tuba, we have extremely limited quantities available. In order to rent a more specialized band instrument, call the South store to check for availability; you'll need to complete a rental contract in person.

What's the difference between a new and used rental?

New instruments haven't been played before, and they come directly out of the box upon rental; for a new rental, auto debit is required. In order to rent a new instrument, you will need to fill out a rental contract in person at one of our locations (west or south).

Used instruments are exactly that: Used. We quality control our used instruments by chemical cleaning brass and all mouth pieces. Our repair technicians go over every single instrument for wear and tear, typical repairs, and we remove instruments no longer at our standard for student playability.

There is also a price difference between new and used instrument rentals. For specialized instruments, unless otherwise noted in person, we only offer used rentals.

What are my options as a high school student in marching band?

For marching band, in order to protect our instruments from elements of weather, rough use, accidental drops, and sweat, we only offer used instrument rentals. We do not rent more "specialized" instruments (i.e. bass clarinets) for marching band.

May I purchase my rental horn?

Unfortunately, no. Our rental horns need to stay in our rental program. However, we apply up to 9 months of your rental payments to the purchase of a new or used instrument.

Do you do monthly rentals?

No. We rent 3 months at a time.
